Hindu spiritual gurus doing a better job than missionaries: RSS Chief

Jaipur, Apr 7 (IANS): RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, while addressing the Rashtriya Seva Sangam on Friday, said "Hindu spiritual gurus are doing a better job than the missionaries".

He was addressing the three-day Rashtriya Seva Sangam being organised by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh here for the third time in the country and for the first time in Rajasthan.

He said, "Generally, intellectual people of the country mention missionaries for their service. However, when we toured the country, we saw that the service provided by Hindu spiritual gurus is more than that of the missionaries."

Bhagwat further said, "There are many nomadic people in our society who fought for the freedom of the country. They did not bow down, and kept fighting for freedom and also kept roaming here and there. They did not have any voter ID or ration card. Foreign rulers declared them criminals. When the Sangh came to know about them, we worked with them and the nomadic tribes also started serving society."

Bhagwat further said, "When the outsiders were defeated, the insiders did the work of breaking the country. We need to stand unitedly. If someone is lagging behind in our society then it is not a good thing for us. Society can move forward only by considering everyone as equal. Weak people have to be given strength.

"Service has been done by volunteers since the inception of the Sangh. Everyone has the mentality of service, it just has to be awakened. We are trying to make the society healthy through service from today itself."

Representatives of more than 3,500 voluntary organisations from across the country were present in the Sangam. RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale was also there. An exhibition of work related to Seva Sangam was inaugurated on Thursday.

First Seva Sangam was organised in 2010 in Bengaluru and attended by 980 delegates. In 2015, the second Seva Sangam was organised in New Delhi and attended by 3,500 delegates. Now the third Seva Sangam is being held in Jaipur.

I feel like vomitting when RSS chief MB says Hindu Gurus are doing better job than Missionaries.Really ?Where were they all these years? They are not touching untouchables ,when people were dieing on road side during leprosy people onroad side ,who gave them medicine and wounds washed and bandaged?During corona were they there to care their own people?During war when people were hungry day and night washed cared ,were gurus there ?specially they themselves were and are misusing women in name of caring.Missionaries were helping people and these people saw their good work and religious work and wanted to be their part. But gurus were not allowing to enter their temples .Not allowed to eat with others .Dalits were good only to carry lavartory waste or to keep away dead cows. Now talking big.Want to be a Part of cake ?Let them accept please missionaries have done more work in education social betterment and hospitality ,religious work and build schools ,gave education.Weaccept too they do work but not better than missionaries.

I quote: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, while addressing the Rashtriya Seva Sangam on Friday, said "Hindu spiritual gurus are doing a better job than the missionaries". Unquote. Suppose Hindu missionaries are doing better job than Christian missionaries, why the RSS and it's branches like VHP, Bhajrang Dal, Hindu Mahasabha, HJV, are making big, big shouting of conversions, conversions from Christian missionaries Why, Why, Why.....

Being an atheist, I do not follow any Religion and believe that Humanity is the greatest Religion..... Any one who shows Humanity (irrespective of their religious affiliation) needs to be appreciated..... Except for forcible conversions with the lure of money, job etc... nobody can be converted, if their faith is strong..... What Max said is absolutely right, when someone does good, people would naturally follow those people and their religion / principles, there is nothing wrong..... Let Hindu Gurus do good to the lame and the crippled..... Just a doubt.... why all Hindu Gurus have "Ananda" (meaning Joy, Bliss) as part of their names?

We compare these institutions just to feel supirior, in reality these institutions have made thousands and destroyed lakhs of dreams in this country. Also admission to Harvard, Stanford and MIT is purely based on intelligence and interest. But iit and nit is just a normal college with quota issues.

Making fun of Christian missionaries is not only disrespectful, but it is also unproductive and does not contribute to a healthy discourse. Many missionaries work tirelessly to help people in need and spread messages of love, hope, and compassion.

Self boasting is part of the sangh. Startling revelation by RTI activist living near sangh head quarter in Nagpur is not registered with authorities as per required by the law. Secondly they have not obtained permission to facilitate reside .They have not maintained members list. They have no service record and during Vajpayee they got donations from foreign companies like Microsoft which is violation of FERA . They had violated police conditions of route March without sticks when President Pranab Mukherjee visited them. Is anybody above the law or it applies only for opposition parties?. Recently the history of the org got banned by Sardar Patel after assassination of Gandhi and was withdrawn on condition of them not interfering in politics which again is violated was removed by NCERT text books.

Only unfortunate thing is Hindu gurus do not propagate conversion for which missionaries are here for, that's their only aim in fact. Conversion in guise of helping hand

When you do good, people want to follow what you are doing and the religion you follow . Are you or your hindu gurus ready to work with lepers , with the sick and mentally unsound people like what Mother Theresa or any missionaries do? Its easy to criticize the missionaries but very difficult to follow their path of humanity. People say Mother Theresa converted people by giving helping hand. Tell me what type of burial can she give a sick man, mentally unsound person etc when they themselves dont knwo who they are . She was a catholic and so she made them catholic and gave a good burial. Same with orphaned and homeless babies . And then RSS and their followers scream that she and other missionaries convert people. Why doesnt he talk about Hare Rama and many other such groups in Europe and USA that convert people giving them marijuana.
