Beltangady, Apr 10: A lone tusker entered the farms of Dhumbettu vicinity under Mundaje gram panchayat in the taluk and destroyed the crops.

More than 50 plantain and arecanut trees were uprooted by the tusker in farm lands that belong to locals Sudhakara Gowda, Vishwanatha Gowda, Rukmaiah Gowda, Jayaprakash Bhat and Srikrishna Bhat. Water connection pipes were also damaged and the tusker also moved near some residential houses.

The lone tusker entered through the elephant ditch that is near Dhumketu from Chamundi Nagara and Kaje Nalilu area. Locals were heaving a sigh of relief as there was no elephant attack for three months. But their peace was taken away by the tusker who ran amok in their farm lands.
