New Delhi, Jul 2: Former union minister Chaturanan Mishra passed away at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Saturday July 2.
The 86-year-old senior CPI leader died after prolonged illness.
Born in Nahar village of Madhubani district on April 7 in 1925, Mishra, a freedom fighter took part in the Quit India movement and was badly injured when he was imprisoned at Darbhanga jail then.
He was elected to Rajya Sabha in 1984 and 1990 and to Lok Sabha in 1996. He was a three-time member of Bihar Legislative Assembly from 1969 to 1980.
Mishra was minister for agriculture in the cabinet of H D Devegowda and I K Gujaral. He has also been president of All India Trade Union Congress.
