Chennai, Jul 4: Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Sun pictures Hansraj Saxena, accused of cheating a distributer of Rs 1.25 crore, was arrested soon after he landed at the airport here on Sunday July 3.
The complaint against him was filed by T S Selvaraj, owner of Kandan Films in Salem, who had reportedly signed a deal with Saxena.
Selvaraj alleged that Sun Pictures had taken Rs 1.25 crore after signing a deal to sell the distribution rights for Salem area for the film 'Theeratha Vilayatu Pillai' starring actor Vishal.
But Saxena distributed the film directly to theatre owners after taking money from them instead of selling the rights to Selvaraj, police sources said.
Saxena allegedly threatened Selvaraj when he asked for his money to be returned.
The COO has been ramanded untill July 17.
It is learnt that in September 2010, a man named Siddharth had filed a complaint alleging that about 100 hoodlums had barged into the Checker's Hotel in Little Mount at the behest of Saxena. The police however, failed to interrogate him.
