Mumbai, Jul 5 (IANS): A benchmark index for Indian equities markets Tuesday closed 71 points lower as traders were worried over political trouble in Andhra Pradesh.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) which opened at 18,837.88 points, closed at 18,743.31 points (provisional), down 71.17 points or 0.38 percent from its previous close at 18,814.48 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also ended at 5,630.95 points, down 0.35 percent.
Broader markets too closed dull, with the BSE midcap index ending 0.1 percent down and the BSE smallcap index up 0.2 percent.
