Greater Noida, July 6: The first six months of 2011 has been most calm and peaceful for the country in a decade said home minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday.

The level of violence has been comparatively lower, thanks to the paramilitary forces. Be it terrorism in Kashmir or insurgency in the northeast or the Maoists, it has been on the lower side, he added.
The home minister was addressing the media after laying foundation stone of an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) referral hospital.

According to him, the people of India should be empathetic towards the lakhs of central armed police force personnel who face frost bite in one posting and unbearable heat in the other.
