Maoists Kidnap Villagers, Ransack Houses in Orissa

Malkangiri (Orissa), Jul 6: Armed Maoists abducted five people and looted three houses at a remote village here on Wednesday July 6.

Among the three houses, the house of police personnel Ramachandra Madkam was also included. It was turned upside down by the Maoists.

Malkangiri superintendent of the police Anirudh Singh said that the rebel group raided the Potteru village, situated 85 km from here bordering Andhra Pradesh which comes under the MV-79 police station.

The ultras on July 5 called five persons including village head and a ward member out of their houses at night and took them to the forest. The kidnapped persons are yet to be traced.
