Udupi: Three drown, one missing after being washed away in river current

Udupi, Apr 23: Three youths drowned and one went missing after being swept away by river current here on Sunday, April 23.

The incident occurred in the Honnala river in Brahmavar.

Ibaz, Fazan, Sufan, and Farhan had come to their relative's house in Hoode to celebrate Ramzan. On Sunday evening, they went fishing in a boat when they were washed away.

According to police sources, the boys were caught in the high tide of the river.

Emergency services and police personnel were at the scene to investigate when reports last came in.

It is believed that the boys were collecting sea shells when the incident occurred.

    Lessons not learnt yet. Don't let you children/kids or even youngsters into sea, rivers, ponds, waterfalls. These are dangerous for people with or without experience. There are plenty of swimming pools. Inna Lillahi Wa inna ilaihi wa rajiun.

    Very sad Always be careful of water bodies Even in summer they can have undercurrents. I lost a close friend of mine few years back like this. His memories are always fresh in mind I request all youngsters to be careful
