32 Killed in UP Train-bus Collision, Rs 2 Lac Compensation Announced

Uttar Pradesh, Jul 7: A tragic accident here on Thursday July 7, in which a bus and train collided, has taken the lives of 32 people, while injuring 17 others.

The accident occured at Kanshiramnagar district here at around 2 am when the Chhapra Mathura Express collided with a bus at an unmanned crossing in Etah.

The bus was reportedly carrying a group of people from a marriage party.

Prime minister Manmohan Singh has expressed his grief over the accident and announced ex-gratia relief of Rs 2 lac for the kin of each person killed, Rs 50,000 each for those seriously injured in the accident and Rs 10,000 for those with minor injuries.

Railway Safety Commissioner has been ordered to inquire about the accident.
