Aligarh, July 7: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi lashed out at chief minister Mayawathi on Thursday saying that the divided state was ruled by 'dalals'.
He stressed that cause for 'dalal' rule is because the state was not united.
Gandhi, addressing the villagers said that untill and unless the people of the state do not unite together, they will continue to suffer.
He also pointed out that Uttar Pradesh has the highest land acquisition records compared to other states.
Comparing UP to Haryana, Gandhi said that the farmers there were paid adequate compensation, given help and employment. Whereas in UP farmers were forced to give up their land.
Rahul marched on foot to reach aligarh from Sarole village. He is scheduled to address a 'kisan mahapanchayat' on Saturday July 9.
He had launched the padyatra to understand and listen to the woes of the farmers whose lands have been acquired by the Industrial Authorities for public projects.
Gandhi told the farmers that he personally wanted to meet them and hear their problems. He assured the villagers that he would support them.
More than 30 farmer's organizations from different parts of the state are expected to speak at the mahapanchayat on farmer related issues.
