Mangaluru: Rahul Gandhi to hear grievances of fishermen community Uchila on April 27

Mangaluru, Apr 26: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will arrive in Uchila on Thursday, April 27, to discuss the problems of the fishermen community. After visiting a temple in Uchila, he will discuss with the members of the community, said Manjunath Songar, president of KPCC fishermen cell.

Fishermen community leaders from all over the state will come to Uchila to share their problems with Congress leaders. Congress has in its manifesto made several promises to benefit fishermen's community, he added.

Songar said, "If Congress comes to power in the state, it will provide an insurance for Rs 10 lacs and a Rs 1 lac loan for fisherwomen at zero percent interest, Rs 25 lac loan to purchase a boat with 25% subsidy, and Rs 25,000 as subsidy amount to buy diesel. The Congress government will make arrangements to dredge all docks in the state within six months of coming to power. The fishermen have also demanded an increase in Masyashraya Housing Scheme Fund to Rs 3 lac from Rs 1.25 lac."

Speaking on occasion, Chethan Bengre said, "The BJP government has failed to fulfill the promises made to the fishermen community".
