Shimla, Jul 8: Members of rival students' political outfits, SFI and ABVP, clashed here on Wednesday July 6 in a bid to woo freshers to join them.
Eight people were injured in the clashes, including three policemen. As many as 35 students were arrested and booked under the Indian Police Act.
The clashes took place outside Kotshere Government College. About 70 ABVP and 80 SFI members were involved, police said.
The two groups marched from opposite directions, chanting slogans to woo new members to their outfits. Despite efforts by the police to keep the two from clashing, the situation got out of hand and each started pelting stones at the other.
The injured students were treated at a hospital.
