Puttur, Apr 29: "People will not vote for Congress just because Priyanka Gandhi made dosa during her poll campaign in Karnataka," said BJP's state election in-charge and Tamil Nadu BJP state president Annamalai.
He was addressing the press in Puttur here on Saturday, April 29. He said, “The Congress party is like a 1960-year-old tape recorder. They are claiming that if they come to power, they will withdraw some acts. Hence, union home minister Amit Shah called the Congress to a ‘reverse-gear party’.
“The BJP runs forward with the double engine. That is the difference between the Congress and BJP. Asha Thimmappa Gowda will triumph in Puttur. The party has chosen Asha Thimmappa Gowda as a candidate from Puttur legislative assembly constituency. In the BJP, there is no system of selecting candidates only by two persons.
“Candidates are selected after gathering opinions from the party's Shakthi Kendra, district center, state election committee, and national parliamentary committee and finally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will finalize the names of the candidates. It is natural for the winning party to have aspirants. Hence in Puttur, an independent candidate is contesting the polls. The party will provide opportunity to everyone but one should wait for the opportunity.
“Puttur MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor has done good development work. If the party gives one responsibility, next it will change the responsibility. Hence, this system in the party. The party may give a better opportunity to Sanjeeva Matandoor in the future,” he said.
