New Delhi, Jul 9:Senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee is scheduled to meet DMK chief Karunanidhi in Chennai on Saturday July 9.
The two parties will be meeting on Saturday for the first time after former textile minister Dayanidhi Maran’s resignation.
Sources say that Mukherji’s visit to Chennai is mainly to re-tell the DMK chief relating to Maran’s episode that Central Bureau of Investigation was working on instructions given by the Supreme Court and not the government.
It is learnt that the congress also wants to sent a message that it was not planning on breaking ties with the DMK.
DMK had revealed on Friday July 8 that they had not planned on replacing Maran yet.
The cabinet re-shuffle is due next week.
