Sullia: Burglars break into house, decamp with Rs 20 lac worth valuables

Sullia, May 5: Burglars broke into the house of former president of town panchayat, Shamsuddin on Wednesday and stole golden ornaments worth Rs 20 lac.

Shamsuddin had been to Mangaluru, along with his family, to attend a function on Wednesday and returned home around 9.45 pm. The family members noticed that the front door of the house was broken. When they went inside and checked the cupboards were also broken. They informed the police immediately.

The stolen goods include 14 branded watches, 20 golden finger rings, three pendants, two diamond bracelets, one diamond chain and Rs 55,000 cash. The total value of the stolen goods including cash is said to be Rs 20 lac.

Canine squad and fingerprint experts visited the house and conducted the spot inspection. Sullia police are investigating.
