Dilshan Case Cracked: Retired Army Officer Arrested

Chennai, Jul 10: Police have arrested a retired army officer in connection with the killing 13-year-old Dilshan inside army residential campus.

CB-CID on Sunday July 10 confirmed that ex-officer Lt Col Kandaswamy Ramraj had shot Dilshan, and claimed that he had confesssed to the crime.

"Retired Lieutenant Colonel Kandasamy Ramaraj has confessed to his crime and the rifle used was a 30MI Springfield. He shot Dilshan from his balcony. The officer was provoked by the incidents of kids plucking fruits on and off from the Army area" said CB-CID chief R Sekhar.

He added that the ex-armyman has been charged under Section 302 of the IPC.

Dilshan was killed on July 3 as he and his friends trespassed into the army residential compound to pluck almonds. Dilshan was critically wounded as the officer shot at the boys.

The police arrested Lt Col Ramraj after interrogating several people in the army residential quarters, including officials of the defense force.
