New Dekhi, Jul 10: BJP's election committee has finalised the names of Smriti Irani and Dilip Pandya for the elections from Gujarat.

The committee met under the chairmanship of BJP president Nitin Gadkari on Saturday July 9 and decided the duo will contest for the impending vacancies in mid August this year.

Smriti had lost to Congress leader Kapil Sibal from Chandni Chawk in 2004 Lok Sabha elections.

Dilip Pandya has been a party worker since the Jana Sangh times.

In the Congress party, Sonia Gandhi's political secretery Ahmed Patel's term in Rajya Sabha is also on the verge of ending but he is expected to be given the berth once again.

The elections to fill the vacancies will be held on July 22.
