Udupi, May 17: Vasudev Bhat, a resident of Perampalli here has put up a notice on his electricity meter informing the Mescom authorities to not issue him the bill as he will not remit the same.
He said, “The Congress party had promised several free schemes if they win the elections. It has announced that electricity will be free from June 2023. Siddaramaiah had said nobody including himself needs to pay the electricity charges. D K Shivakumar had said that more than 95% people can make use of the facility. I am also one of the beneficiaries.
"Now that the Congress government has come, I will not pay the electricity bill. I do not consume more than 200 units of power. I have put up the notice so that Mescom staff may know if they come in my absence,” he said.
"I am the beneficiary as I am paying tax to the government," said Bhat.
