Congress ‘Guarantee’ – No issues in payment of electricity bills in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS)

Udupi, May 20: Many civilians are refusing to pay electricity bills throughout the state as Congress assumed power in the state after the elections and free electricity is one of the guarantees given by the party. However, in the four districts of Mescom, including Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi, the public is law abiding and they have not created any such pressure on Mescom and are paying their electricity bills promptly.

In the month of March in Dakshina Kannada, 64.8 million units of electricity was used by 624633 household use connections excepting beneficiaries of Bhagya Jyoti and Kuteera Jyoti schemes. Rs 60.04 crore was collected as charge. Similarly, in Udupi though the aim was to collect Rs 26.23 crore from 355740 household connections for the month of March, Rs 28.84 crore is collected by Mescom.

In April in the district of Dakshina Kannada, the electricity charges that need to be paid to Mescom are Rs 67.26 crore by the household electricity connection holders. Out of this, Rs 55.36 crore is collected. In Udupi, in the month of April, the charges that need to be collected were Rs 34.34 crore. Out of it, the company has gathered Rs 29.81 crore. As there is still time for consumers to pay the electricity bill of April, the full amount will be recovered as per Mescom officials.

An official of Mescom said that in some areas people are asking whether they need to pay the electricity bill as the government is giving free electricity. However, after the Mescom staff makes them understand that the rule will come into implementation only after the order is passed, the civilians are paying the bill.

We voted Congress expecting there would be some changes. vegetables are skyrockig. Usually used by every one alasande and bindi costs 100-120 rs Please bring down cost by providing subsidy to farmers. Every neccessity items are expensive. School fees books and their uniforms unaffordable. But salary never increases. Here also a problem faced by business organisation to pay good salary because their business should have more profit. Beyond my understanding. But philanthropist have enough money to spend on worshipping places, buildings etc. Public wake up.

Yes we belong to twin districts and we didn’t care about these 5 promises of CONGRESS,we have become so delusional because of BJP’s lies that we thought even congress lying. But on swearing ceremony every politicians including RaGa ,Kharge sir ,CM dycm where only talking about the scheme and also they are relaunching Indira canteen. But for us ahankara, why because every household of twin districts has atleast one person in gulf country. Now some gulf sheikh should show us who we are and get us on right track. Too much ahankara will one day burn us. I support the new govt if they don’t give us these schemes then its not their fault ,FAULT IS OURS. Let Mo-Shah give us freebies we are best in chanting mo shah moshah right. Dk Udupi people stop ur crocodile tears Lets face this hard indigestible punishment.

DK and Udupi did not vote for Congress. They are paying bills because they are proud citizens of India. There will not be issue in this region. It is that region that voted Congress to power where Congress will have to beg borrow and steal to have semblance of dignity to the Karnataka Electricity Board.

What is surprising is, none of those who voted for the government (that promised to bring back the black money within 100 days of coming to power), didn't care to check if the black money was brought in ? Or whether the previous government actually stored it in Swiss Banks ? No, I'm not asking about 15 Lakhs. I'm expressing my disbelief at the speed with which people are expecting Congress to fulfil a promise. Did you guys really voted for Congress ??

Sirji, can BJP pass a bill without consulting the Houses ? Give authority to Karnataka government to find out who voted for the party so that it can give 5 benefits to only those ? I mean, as it bypassed discussion to abrogate Art 370, to announce DeMo, to implement CAA/NRC, to impose Lockdown ?

Did you also by any chance incorporate LPG in water heating system when Modi government announced Ujaala scheme ? I'm just curious. Because, the PM asked citizens to give up subsidy so that Ujala scheme gets successful. Irony is, that the subsidy disappeared altogether, i.e. for the willing as well as the unwilling. Hope you sustained the situation too.

@ Vinayak Pai, Mangloee. I totally accept that the government is for all people. So discrimination is not and should not be done based on voting. However, I would like to bring this point with you...BJ P contestants have time and again during state and general elections have said 'if minorities don't vote for BJ P, they need not come to ask for help to BJ P ministers/MLA's or minority development will not be done. Correct me if I am wrong. Back then none objected or said this is wrong. Why were you guys silent then? I can cite many examples with evidence if you want to. Tum karo toh chamatkar, aur hum karen toh balatkar?
