Chennai, Jul 13: Has Nithyananda's time finally come? Well, only time will tell that, but Swami Nithyananda whose image has been tarnished by his exposure in alleged 'sexual' scenes with actress Ranjitha by Sun TV, has now filed a case against the channel and Nakeeran Tamil magazine, almost more than a year after the incident.
The Nithyananda episode had made headlines not only nationally, but also at the international level.
For the first time, after the incident, Swami Nithyananda and Ranjitha came together at a press conference at Chennai on Wedensday July 13.
Nithyananda accused Sun TV and Nakeeran of extortion and land grabbing. Clad in white dhoti and wearing a turban and a white shawl, Swami Nithyananda said that the video images were morphed by Sun TV, and that the bedroom shown in the clip is not his.
But he was flooded by a number of questions by the mediamen - why did he take one year to come up with the charges, being the main one.
He calmly replied that he was scared for his and his devotees' lives.
It is widely assumed that since Maran is out of power, and DMK is on the receiving end, and also because the state government is changed, it is a different situation now, and reportedly Nithyananda is trying to go on a 'damage control' mode by coming into the limelight again.
On July 7, Nithyananda's aide, Dhyanapeetam's Nityasarvananda sought action against both of them, for letting their Sun TV staff to "trespass" into their ashram at various places and allegedly assaulting the inmates. He addressed a press conference in Bangalore on Jul 7.
Today, Nithyananda also said, "A man who called himself Sridhar claiming to be a representative of Sun TV and Nakeeran, was acting as the mediator. He also accused Sun Pictures COO Hansraj Saxena, who is now in prison in connection with a cheating case. Saxena threatened us on the phone and his assistant Ayyapan did it directly."
It may be recalled that in March 2010 Nithyananda's 'sex' video had been widely telecast, and subsiquently he was arrested in Himachal Pradesh.
