Mangaluru-based Haniya Haneef achieves remarkable feat as woman pilot at 21

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, May 21: Haniya Haneef, a resident of Pandeshwar in the city, has brought immense pride to the coastal district by becoming a pilot at the age of 21.

Haniya Haneef, the daughter of Mohammed Hanif and Naziya, residents of Pandeshwar, has obtained an authorized commercial pilot license.

Haniya completed her education up to the ninth standard at The Indian High School in Dubai, followed by her SSLC from Lourdes Central School in Bejai. She pursued her PU education at Mahesh PU College. Having been exposed to overseas trips from a young age, Haniya developed a passion for becoming a pilot.

After completing her PU education, Haniya joined the Orient Flights Aviation Academy in Mysuru and underwent training for three and a half years. She recently obtained her commercial pilot license and has now become the first female captain after flying for 200 hours.

In an interview with the media, Haniya said, "As I frequently flew to Dubai, I decided to become a pilot. It is not an easy journey to become a pilot, especially for women, as parents often hesitate to allow them into this field. However, my parents wholeheartedly supported me and made it possible for me to become a commercial pilot."

Naziya, Haniya's mother, expressed her joy, saying, "Even as a child, Haniya used to repeatedly express her dream of becoming a pilot. We supported her aspirations, and now I am elated to see my daughter achieve her vision."

@ aithappa, kodial achievement is good but passengers will have high risk I believe.. You seem to be an henpeck. What guarantee is there that you are safe when travelling in a vehicle, Byce, ship or Flight where experience captain is in the cockpit. If DGCA approves she can be a commercial piolet.

Great achievements. It's a proud moment for Muslim community and Indians. Where those communal haters and raising questions about Muslim students wearing Abaya in PU college. Let that BJP MLA come to terms. As a professional career, she may face some hurdles from Aviation Ministry saying her traditional dress cannot be tolerated on duty !
