Chennai, Jul 14: Living legend and Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, who enjoys a tremendous fan following that can sometimes go to hysterical levels, arrived in the city on Wednesday July 13 night, accompanied by his wife and daughters.
He was in Singapore getting treated for kidney-related ailments for about six weeks.
Rajini, everything about whom makes headlines, had fallen ill during the shooting for the Hindi movie, ‘Rana’. In the initial stages, the family members and close ones had maintained that it was minor health problem, caused by the consumption of liquid diet for losing weight to suit his role in the movie. However, as his health worsened, the doctors had recommended advanced treatment, following which, he was flown to Singapore in the last week of May this year. On arrival, Rajini appeared hale and healthy. Rajini had stayed back at Singapore after being discharged from the hospital on June 15, as he knew once arrives in India, his days will be hectic.
The CISF security personnel at the airport had problems dealing with the teeming fans of the super star, who had gathered at the airport in large numbers to get a glimpse of their super hero, whose health condition had robbed them of their mental peace and sleep. Rajini’s wife, Latha, and daughters, Aishjwarya Dhanush and Soundarya, were by his side as the fans went berserk with ecstasy at the sight of the cine god, waved at him, and raised slogans. The fans had been performing prayers and worships for the safe return of their matinee idol since reports about his ill health appeared. The family’s plan of keeping Rajini’s arrival under wraps had apparently failed.
It is gathered that Rajini had spoken to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa after the assembly election, to congratulate her for her victory, and had told her he would be back in Chennai in a few days. He also had called former CM of Tamil Nadu, M Karunananidhi, requesting him to take the defeat and other unsavoury developments in his stride and concentrate on his health.
In all likelihood, Rajini will not participate in shootings for nearly two months from now.
