Lucknow, July 14 (IANS) Light to moderate rains are expected in parts of Uttar Pradesh from Thursday for a few days that will bring much-needed relief from the sultry weather in the region.
"Rain intensity will depend on the moisture feed from the Bay of Bengal. As there is some moisture feed, it is expected that light to moderate rains would be witnessed in Uttar Pradesh till July 17," state meteorological director J.P. Gupta told reporters Thursday.
According to officials, the minimum temperature in Lucknow Thursday was recorded at 27.2 degree Celsius, one degree above the average.
"An upper air cyclonic pressure is now hovering over western Uttar Pradesh and the monsoon trough line has also shifted towards the state. The mechanisms responsible for the circulation and the trough line movement are expected to cause rains across the state."
