Udupi, May 25: The Akki Muhurtha was performed by Sri Sugunendra Theertha swamiji in preparation for the 2024 Paryaya on Thursday, May 25. Puttige Math will be heading the next paryaya in the year 2024.
Akki mudi was taken in a golden chariot around the Udupi car street and prayers were offered in Anantheshwara, Chandramouleshwara, and Sri Krishna Math.
Akki Muhurtha marks the second Muhurtha among the four Muhurtham which will be held prior to the paryaya celebrations.
A new website of Puttige math was also launched by Sri Sri Sugunendra Therrtha Swamiji and junior pontiff Sri Sushindra Theertha swamiji on the occasion. To mark the akki muhurtam celebrations “Geetha Akki Mudi” a book based on verses of Bhagavad-Gita was also released by swamiji.
Addressing the devotees, Sri Sugunendra theertha swamiji said, “We have announced our Paryaya as ‘Vishwa Paryaya.' I am inviting all the devotees of Lord Krishna to take part in our fourth Paryaya. Already I have travelled through most of the nations. From today onwards we will be doing yatras inside India. Already many plans have been chalked out for the development of the Sri Krishna Math during our Paryaya term. “Koti Geetha Lekhana Yajna” is a unique initiative by us. All the participants of “Koti Geetha Lekha Yajna” will be invited to take part in the Paryaya celebrations. Udupi Sri Krishna Math is called as Annabrahma Kshethra. Anna (rice) is very important for human beings. Lord Krishna eating the butter is his most popular picture. Thus Lord Krishna is known for food. Rice is a need for human beings to live. Udupi is the only place which has given utmost importance for the Annadana. It has been carried out for 800 years in Udupi”.
Akki Mudi’s were brought by 108 associations of Udupi to be offered as part of Akki muhurtha.
Junior Pontiff Sri Sushindra Theertha Swamiji speaking on the occasion said “Udupi’s Krishna is well known as Anna Brahma. Anyone visiting Udupi will not return with hunger. Today we have completed Akki Muhurtha. Paryaya means new things. Your participation will be fruitful in upcoming days” he said.
