Gujarat, May 26: Tulu and Kannada speaking Rajani Govinda Shetty has been unanimously elected mayor of Gujarat state Dadra and Nagar Haveli Silvasa municipal council. The elections were held in the presence of election officer, collector Bhanuprabha, BJP president Deepesh Tandel, former mayor Rakesh Chawhan and former deputy mayor Ajay Desai.

Rajani Shetty is the daughter of Dakshina Kannada Mannugudde resident late Narayana Thimmappa Shetty and the wife of Karkala taluk resident, social worker Govinda Shetty. She lives with her husband and children Tarun and Punya and has been the panchayat president at Kanwell here for the last five years. He was overseeing the functions of Dadra Nagar Haveli municipal council for the last two and a half years and has worked for the growth in the vicinity.

She serves as the member of Silvasa and Vapi Kannada Sangha, Tulu Aisiri and other Tulu and Kannada sanghas responding to the needs of Tulu – Kannadigas. She was congratulated by Tulu – Kannadigas and local people after being elected as the mayor.
