Bengaluru: Portfolio allocation finalized in state Congress government

Bengaluru, May 29: Portfolio allocation had become a big hurdle in the newly formed Siddaramaiah led Congress government in the state which came to power on absolute majority. However, on the late night of Sunday, the letter of portfolio allocation was signed by the governor.

All the 34 ministers are officially allotted portfolios now. Chief minister (CM) Siddaramaiah has kept finance, cabinet affairs, personnel and administration reform department, intelligence, information, ITBT, fundamental infrastructure development and all other portfolios which are not distributed.

DyCM D K Shivakumar has got medium irrigation, BBMP, BDA, BWSSB, BMRDA, BMRCL, Bengaluru urban development related to city development project.

Dr G Parameshwar is given home department. However, intelligence in kept by CM Siddaramaiah with himself. H K Patil is allotted law and parliamentary affairs in addition to tourism.

Food and civil supplies, consumer affairs is allotted to K H Muniyappa. Transport and Muzrai department is allocated to Ramalinga Reddy. Large and medium industries portfolio is given to M B Patil. Energy department is allocated to K J George, health and family welfare to Dinesh Gundu Rao. Social welfare department to H C Mahadevappa and PWD to Satish Jarkiholi.

Revenue department is allocated to Krishna Byregowda, rural development and panchayatraj to Priyank Kharge, cooperative, garments, sugarcane development, agricultural marketing and sugar directorate to Shivananda Patil, housing construction, wakf and minorities development to Zameer Ahmed Khan, small industries and public enterprises to Sharanabasappa Darshanapur and forest, environmental sciences and environment to Eshwar Khandre.

Agriculture portfolio to N Cheluvaraya Swamy, horticulture, mining and geoscience to S S Mallikarjun, municipal administration and Hajj to Rahim Khan, labour department to Santhosh S Lad, medical education and skill development to Sharanu Prakash Rudrappa Patil, excise to R B Timmapur, animal husbandry and sericulture to K Venkatesh, development of backward communities, kannada and culture to Shivaraj Tangadagi, project and statistics to D Sudhakar and youth services and sports, development of tribal community to B Nagendra.

Cooperative to N Rajanna, urban development except Bengaluru urban development, including KUWSDB and KUIDFC to Suresh B S, women and children welfare department, empowerment of differently abled and senior citizens to Laxmi Hebbalkar, ports and fisheries, internal transport to Mankal Vaidya, primary and secondary education to Madhu Bangarappa, higher education department to Dr M C Sudhakar and small irrigation, science and technology to N S Bosaraju.
