Protesting wrestlers to discard all their medals in river Ganga this evening

New Delhi, May 30 (IANS): In the latest move, all the protesting wrestlers, including Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik will head to Haridwar on Tuesday evening to discard all their medals in the holy river Ganga.

The protesting wrestlers said after that they will come back to Delhi and sit on hunger strike at India Gate.

Taking to Twitter, Olympic bronze medallist Malik and other wrestlers, shared a note, in which they strongly condemned the Delhi Police action.

"We are going to discard our medals in holy river Ganga. These medals are our lives, our souls. There would be no reason to live after leaving them in the Ganga today. So, we will stage a hunger strike until death at India Gate after that," read the statement in Hindi.

The wrestlers said the Prime Minister "who calls us our daughters", did not even once show his concern "for us".

"Rather, he invited Brij Bhushan Singh to the inauguration of the new Parliament building. He even posed for photographs," the statement said.

Top wrestlers, including Vinesh, Sakshi and Bajrang, are protesting against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over sexual harassment of female athletes, including a minor.

The protest which started on April 23 at Jantar Mantar saw heartbreaking visuals on the day of the new Parliament building's inauguration when Delhi Police cracked down on them in the midst of their march.

As the protesters tried to breach the security cordon, a fierce tussle broke out -- the wrestlers and cops pushed, shoved and grappled with one another.

It is very clear that NM and AS are frighten of brij bushan singh. That is why they are not opening there mouth. They are more interested in karnataka. See what happened. Because of these two, the good hard working BJP workers in karnataka had to face defeat, for no fault of theirs. What a big disgrace for us all Indians for such handling by these two, of a clear case of sexual haresment of adult and minor victims

Everyone including me is happy to be an internet activist. We have not dared to join the victims to strengthen their voice. In the meantime, the nude emperor and his dumb bandwagon are blatantly marching on the street. All the ethics, norms and basic rights are floundered openly. The least said about the media who are as good as nonexistent. Instead of throwing the hard earned medals into the river, the culprit should.have been stripped and drowned in the same river.

Really sad and shame on insensitive Govt. Wrestlers, who bought olympic medals, made the country pround, are accusing WFI chief of sexual offenses. Since he is connected to BJP no action gets taken. Only an FIR that too 7days after protests, with the intervention of supreme court. WFI chief has challenged Narco test and demanded even accusing athletes to go through same test. They have dared his demand and asked the narco test of both sides shown live on TV. WFI cheif now trying taking the seers help, to change the law itself. This issue should have made every girl and women, and the men who respect women, in this country, to stand with the Wrestlers. But, seems middle class has lost its voice and sensitity of being human.

Right to protest is appreciated, but you should not hold thec country at ransom. Wait for the court verdict. Have some patience. Hopefully they'll throw the cash received from the Govt, Rs 3 crores. Plum properties and also the brands endorsing revenue.

This is very much brutal and real than alleged Love-Jihad which has been rejected officially by BJP minster in the parliament. You will realize when your own sex starved man shows up in your door steps who has all the backing of your govt including a clean chit after committing the crime. Don.’t be surprised if your minister knocks your door. BTW, money will not bring back wrestlers dignity and chastity. This is murder of democracy. BJP has always sided with criminals, corrupt and Chors and it’s happening to your own activists and workers like you unless you are really really blind. Your own family and women are unsafe and insecure under your govt and that is the reality.
