Kundapur, May 31: “Title deeds will be issued to poor people who are living at Kodi Kanyana seashore constructing houses for generations,” said Kundapur MLA A Kiran Kumar Kodgi.

Speaking to news reporters, he said that the title deeds were not approved so far for various reasons. Government land is approved for 161 families. Poramboku land is sanctioned for 178 people. Cabinet approval for land at sea shore is pending for 132 people. The land was approved by the efforts of then MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty and the then minister Kota Srinivas Poojary. Economically backward people are unable to pay the current rates of Rs 5000 per cent. Rs 500 are being paid in similar cases at Malpe. The government will be pressed to receive payments in those terms,” he said.

“There were campaigns for decades for title deeds by people at Kodi Kanyana and new Bengre. Halady Srinivas Poojary collected documents and held a meeting of revenue officials and CRZ officials at the deputy commissioner’s office and obtained no objection letters. He later took the file to Bengaluru, held a meeting of revenue department officials, deputy commissioner and MLA and was able to obtain the title deeds,” he said.
