New Delhi, July 18 (IANS) Designer Manav Gangwani has combined dreams and reality to create his new collection called A Timeless Affaire that he will showcase at the Delhi Couture Week (DCW) starting Friday.
"When I design, I bring to life the image of a woman which is latent in my mind. I create fashion for the way I want to project today's multi-dimensional women. I am guided purely by my instincts not by rules," said Manav.
The designer will showcase a collection featuring exaggerated collars, voluminous skirts with layering, sensuous gowns, flared lehengas, novel anarkalis and suits along with saris.
His collection will be in colours like ivory, yellow and orange in gradual gradation from light to dark.
"Today, fashion equates lifestyle, is reflected in the way we live, what is happening around us and the way we feel. My style is to be true to myself. With this collection, I want the audience to be enthralled by the profound magic of couture as I envision it," he said.
Moving away from his signature style, Gangwani has used 'gota' (golden lace) work on the garments along with exquisite embroidery using Swarovski Elements. And, he has used georgette, Italian chiffon, French lame, sequined fabric, silk velvet and duchess satin to create the garments.
"In tandem with the theme of the show, the decor of the ramp will be reflective of the connection between time, space and the Zodiac. The chosen colours, of course, will be those of the Sun, which is beautifully integrated into the backdrop," the designer said.
DCW is a four-day event and Gangwani will showcase his collection Saturday.
