Mangaluru, Jun 13: The children’s play area in Kadri Park is in a dilapidated state. The damaged playing equipment is likely to cause injury to children. The local administration needs to pay attention to restore the games area.

While the road leading to Kadri Park and its surroundings are developed under the Smart City project spending Rs 16.5 crore, the park has been underdeveloped for years. Kadri Park has been a favourite spot of the public for jogging, and numerous families and children spend time here. The park has been one of the renowned spots since ages for people of the city.

Unfortunately, Kadri Park is completely neglected, especially the children’s play area. One can witness a large number of children accompanied by their parents in the evening here. Several children play here but the game equipment is in a miserable state.

Though renowned as one of the cleanest cities of the nation, Mangaluru is still not up to the mark. People dump loads of plastics and waste at some spots even if there is a notice not to do so. People also urinate at open places in Kadri Park.

Parents of the children and many fitness freaks say that Sunday is a very crowded day and children hardly get space to play. The Mangaluru City Corporation authorities can take up an initiative to increase the capacity of the children’s park and also repair the damaged equipment which mars the beauty of the place and endanger the children’s lives. The fitness equipment at the park is also damaged.

Speaking to daijiworld, a visitor said, “The equipment at the children’s play area is completely damaged. Despite that, children play with those equipment and end up getting injured. The concerned authorities should come forward to address the issue and repair the damaged equipment at the earliest."

People's representatives of both the twin districts have had 40% and pocketed enough in their cupboards. The newly erected Kadri fountain is working/not working; working/not working. Virtually we are the voters get suffered. Both the twin districts people's representatives are useless lethargic, and docile. ಬೇಲೆನೇ ಮಲ್ಪುಜೆರ್ ಕಂಡುಲ್, ಕಾಸೇ ಉಲ್ಯಾ ಪಾಡುನು.

Mangalore is a dense city and children have hardly any place to play. Many are staying in flats and children are happy in summer to play out than inside. Why dont some people dont understand this ?By playing children are relaxed and are happy .Dont take their happiness.let children be children .We see in foto one adult is sleeping on the Bench ,other one is Peeing near childrens play ground. Is it normal ?Inviting mosquitoes and sickness to children.Have some understanding as you were a child.Dont destroy what others did for them but contribute to it.Keep a hidden Camera to see who is destroying and want to make it ugly.

The equipment are designed to be used by the children. In spite of the sign boards clearly indicating that the adults are not allowed to use the same, many people continue to do it. Who will tell these 'GoNas' not to behave like kids??
