Mangaluru: World Environment Day Celebration held at MRPL

Mangaluru, Jun 14: World Environment Day Programme was held at MRPL Employees Recreation Centre on June 14.

Dr YK Dinesh Kumar, DCF – Karnataka Forest Department, was the chief guest of the programme. He spoke on the occasion and thanked MRPL for taking the decision to sign the MOU with Forest Department for the Ecosystem Restoration and Rejuvenation of Kudumburiver.

SP Kamath, ED Refinery signed the MOU on behalf of MRPL and Dr YK Dinesh Kumar on behalf of the Forest Department, Karnataka.

Students of GovindaDasa College, Surathkal presented a streetplay on the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’.

Dr Ravi DR, Environmental Officer – KSPCB said that “We need to sensitise ourselves for the protection of environment”.

Ganesh S Bhat, IFS, CVO spoke on the occasion and proposed various steps to minimise the use of Plastic at individual level.

Vivek C Tongaonkar, Director Finance expressed his happiness in contributing to the project of river Kudumburu rejuvenation.

Sanjay Varma, Director Refinery & Managing Director (Additional Charge) spoke on the occasion and said “We call our earth as Mother Earth because she cares & nurtures. Now we need to take care of our mother. Due to Climate Change part of our land has degraded, Water availability has shrunk and now we need to manage our waste in a sustainable way.”

Ms Pavithra, Engineer HSE coordinated the prize distribution. Kanchan Deshwal, compered. Prasanna Kumar, GM – HSE proposed the vote of thanks.
