Udupi, Jun 15: Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) is celebrating International Day of Yoga 2023. Dr H S Ballal, pro-chancellor, MAHE, will preside over the event. It will be attended by dignitaries such as chief guest - Dr Sharath Kumar Rao, pro vice-chancellor, faculty of health sciences MAHE, guest of honour -Dr P Giridhar Kini, registrar, MAHE.
Yoga is ancient Indian science and is also being practicedto maintain total health. Yogic science originated from Vedic literature (2000-5000BC) and the Upanishads. Sage Patanjali codified all the knowledge of yoga (500BC) from Vedic literature and Upanishads. Yoga is an invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition. It embodies the Unity of mind, body, and soul.
Division of Yoga has conducted webinars, camps & competitions on account of International Day of Yoga for the past two months. A practical Yoga session will be conducted by Dr Annapoorna K, professor & hod, Division of Yoga, for the staff and students at Indoor Futsal Court, Marena Sports Complex, Manipal, on June 21 from 8.00 am to 8.45am.
A stage programme will beto celebrate International Day of Yoga from 9:00 am to 9.45 am at Indoor Futsal Court, Marena Sports Complex, Manipal.
The Division of Yoga, CIMR, will coordinate the programmeunder the guidance of Dr B S Satish Rao, director of Research, MAHE, Manipal.
