Mangaluru: Wife’s murder over trivial matter – Husband held guilty

Mangaluru, Jun 16: A man who killed his wife over a trivial matter was pronounced guilty by the first additional district and sessions court of the city. The quantum of punishment will be pronounced on June 16.

Johnson (41), a farm labourer, resident of Neriyakadu Kottakkara near Dharmastala, is the accused. On January 7, 2021, Johnson picked up a quarrel with his wife Sowmya Francis (37), over trivial matters and hit her with a wooden log killing her on the spot.

Sowmya’s brother Sanoj Francis had filed a complaint in this regard with Beltangady police. In the complaint, it was mentioned that Sowmya was tortured mentally and physically by accused Johnson. Counselling was done in the church to resolve the matter but Johnson continued beating Sowmya.

Case was filed under IPC 498 (a) and 302.
