Mangaluru Jun 20: A Nano car that met with an accident on June 11 is placed outside Kadri traffic police station to create awareness in a unique way on the importance of possessing insurance for vehicles.

The car has been kept in front of the police station with a banner on it raising awareness on insurance renewal. The banner states ‘I met an accident on June 11. Due to negligence of my owner, I do not have an insurance. I have been placed at Kadri police station and have become an orphan. I do not want anyone to face the situation I am in’.

The tragic accident between the car and a bike that occurred at Yeyyadi had resulted in the death of a 45-year-old man and injury of a boy riding pillion. The deceased man was Veerbadrappa while Suresh was seriously injured.

The car owner had renewed the insurance on the day of accident in the morning, but the policy will be applicable only after 12 am. Not having renewed the insurance, the owner of the Nano car was not able to claim the insurance for the deceased. The owner is identified as Vinod from Vamanjoor.

It is reported that in 2023, a total 80 IMV cases have been filed at Kadri traffic police station among which 3 are without insurance.

A case has been filed at Kadri traffic police station under IPC section 279 and 304(a) against the Nano car owner.

Firstly do not park the car on the footpath. Secondly find a proper area to park the seized vehicles.

The Kadri traffic police should see to the vehicles parked on the footpath in its jurisdiction. I really cannot understand vehicles are parked on the footpath and therefore prohibiting pedestrians from safely using the footpath. The vehicle parked on footpath are mostly near private commercial buildings in area of Kadri, Bendore, Valencia, Highlands, Attavar, Falnir and Kankannady. Prevention is better than cure.
