Mangaluru: Serial accident at Gurupur market – Bike rider killed

Mangaluru, Jun 23: In a serial accident that occurred on Thursday June 22 at Gurupur market on Mangaluru-Moodbidri main road, a bike rider was killed as a private bus and pick up vehicle hit his bike as well as a school bus.

The deceased is identified as Santhosh (34), a resident of Kariyangala village of Polali. Santhosh is survived by eight month old baby girl, wife, mother and siblings.

Santhosh got married in December 2021 and was an activist of BJP Shakti Kendra. He was working at Vamanjoor branch of Gurpur agricultural cooperative society.

Near the humps in front of the office where Santhosh used to work, a private bus and pick up van hit a school bus in the rear which later hit the bike. Santhosh was dragged for a long distance by the bus after hitting his bike. Four to five road humps are installed on the spot where the accident occurred. Earlier on June 15 too, a truck which was carrying full load of mud, had overturned in the same spot.

Traffic got disrupted due to the accident. Bajpe police visited the spot and have registered a case.
