Puttur: Lokayukta raid – PDO arrested red-handed receiving bribe

Puttur, Jun 23: City Lokayukta police took into custody Mahesh G N, Kaukradi gram panchayat development officer, while receiving Rs 20,000 bribe for changing Khata of a property on Thursday June 21,.

A resident of Kokkada village of Beltangady taluk had applied for change 9/11 Khata of his property at Kaukradi in 2017 to the gram panchayat. As the request was not done, the person applied again in 2021 and paid fee to the gram panchayat. Still his job was not done. Hence on June 20, the said person went to gram panchayat and inquired with PDO Mahesh. He agreed to get the job done but demanded bribe of Rs 20,000.

Accordingly, Mahesh was caught red handed on June 22, by the Lokayukta police as he was receiving bribe amount from the applicant. Mahesh is produced to court.

The raid was conducted under the guidance of Lokayukta SP Simon. DySP Kalavati K, Chaluvaraju, inspector Amanullah, Vinayaka Billava and other personnel took part in the operation.

    Demanding bribe n corruption will end only when the accused is dismissed from da job. Once you do it all will fall in line. Look at the pay these govt. servents are getting n still not satisfied. On the other hand people stŕuggle to meet end. On top of it all most of these officials with their influence get the best edto their children without paying anything....if da admission is not given these officials start haressing the management...hope this Govt. Puts breaks to this virus

    Only arrest is not enough. If proved he should be thrown out of job. That way somewhat you can stop bribary cases. We never here follow up.

    Here Government officers in most of the department think they are owner of that company .Even to get a signature need us to beg and need to visit many times.If money given work done fast .If no money and we talk rules they will keep you hang .As long as all public not United there will be corruption will continue.

    Corrupt officers are a curse in our society. They must be caught and all bribery mutes be stopped I am sure the Lokayulktha moving in right direction
