Puttaparthi, Jul 23: While rummaging through Sathya Sai Baba’s Yajur Mandir residence in Prasanthi Nilayam officials had come across gold, silver jewellery, diamonds, and his personal belongings from various rooms during the three rounds of inventories
His personal belongings included imported shaving kits, bottles of perfumes, toiletries, shampoos, soaps and napkins. Also around 5,000 expensive watches of various international brands were found. In addition to all this packets of putrefied dry fruits were also found.
A close associate of Sai Baba said that Baba loved perfumes and used to sport perfumes of top international brands.
Sai Baba used to receive expensive gifts from devotees from across the world, but he never bothered to use them. The officials said that they had found two gold garlands weighing 6-7 kg thrown under a table without the packs being opened.
"A devotee donated 75 silver glasses each weighing 700 gm in a carton during his 75th birthday fete. But the carton was never opened. We found it in one of the rooms," the official said.
Baba’s bed was rumoured to be made out of gold and silver. But what the officials saw was a sophisticated and modern bed filled with air.
