Norway Twin Attack Death Toll Climbs to 91

Oslo, Jul 23 (IANS): The death toll in twin attacks in Norway has gone up to 91. At least 84 people have been killed in a shooting spree by an ethnic Norwegian at a youth camp in an island that came soon after a massive blast in Oslo that claimed seven lives, Xinhua reported Saturday.

A 32-year-old ethnic Norwegian was arrested after the attack Friday at a youth camp on Utoeya island, some 40 km west of Oslo.

He is also believed to have been behind the bombing here that left seven people dead and scores injured.

The combined toll from the twin attacks now rises to 91. Earlier, the toll in the shooting was estimated to be 80.

A gunman wearing police uniform opened fire at the camp two hours after the bomb explosion at the city centre, where several government buildings were damaged.

The attacker in his 30s was described to be carrying a pistol and a rifle with telescopic sight. He started shooting a few minutes after he landed on the island in Buskerud county.
