Kundapur, June 23: MP B Y Raghavendra visited the area affected by sea erosion at Maravanthe on Friday and held discussions with leaders of fishermen about the damage caused by the erosion.
Speaking to news reporters later he said that sea erosion occurs at Maravanthe every year. When B S Yediyurappa was the chief minister of the state, he had released Rs 82 crore in the budget to build a permanent break wall for it.
He said the project was delayed due to technical reasons including the CRZ. "I will try to solve this issue. I have already spoken to state minister Mankala Vaidya in this connection."
MLA Gururaj Gantihole had also called on the district in charge minister a week ago. A temporary solution needs to be taken now, he said.
A plan to find a permanent solution will be designed after visiting the concerned ministers during the next parliament session starting next month, Raghavendra said.
MLA Gururaj Gantihole, additional deputy commissioner Veena B N, tahsildar Srikanth, Srinivasa Murthy, Deepak Kumar Shetty, Ananda Kharvi, Priyadarshini Devadiga, fishermen leader Vasudeva Kharvi and others were also present.
