Mangaluru: Two-day fruit, jackfruit festival ‘Halasu Mela’ inaugurated at Pilikula

Mangaluru, Jun 24: Mulky-Moodbidri MLA Umanath Kotian inaugurated a two-day fruit and jackfruit festival ‘Halasu Mela’ on Saturday, June 24 at Pilikula, organised by Pilikula Development Authority.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Umanath Kotian said, “One can enjoy various varieties of fruits and look out for medicinal plants during the two days of the fruit festival. I urge everyone to visit the exhibition and support the farmers by buying their products. These kinds of exhibitions should be organized once in a month as it is a tourist centre.”

The festival is showcasing various varieties of food items prepared from jackfruit. There are varieties of mangoes such as Sindhoora, Banganapalle, Badami, Mallika, Seeri, Kalapadi and Ambika among others. Other kinds of fruits will also be exhibited and sold by vendors.

Medicinal plants, seeds, khadi clothes, pomegranate peels, hand-woven clothes, natural ice cream, various food and agricultural products have been put for display and sale. Food items prepared from fruits are also available for the public to purchase.

Moodushedde panchayat president Jayashree, Harish Moodushedde, Dr Suryaprakash Shenoy, Dr K V Rao, Dr Nithin and others were present.

    looking into these mouth watering fruits ,feel like to fly over to Mangalore to eat them.Other unknown fruits (to me)are invite to eat.Nice to see.
