Udupi, Jun 24: Dr Meenakumari, the director general of CCRS, signed MoU with MAHE and inaugurated Specialty Integrative Traditional Siddha Medicine OPD (SISMO) at MAHE, Manipal.
Dr Meenakumari and her team Dr Christian, Dr BR Senthil Kumar and Dr Mariyappan visited Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE)recentlyfrom Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS), which is the Apex body for Siddha Research and National Institute of Siddha.
MAHE established the Center for Integrative Medicine and Research (CIMR) during 2015 with three divisions for Ayurveda, Siddha, and Yoga. The Division of Siddha of CIMR is now jointed with AYUSH ministry to run the SISMO OPD at Manipal.
During the MOU sign off, Dr Giridhar Kini, registrar, MAHE and director general of CCRS team were present along with. Dr Ullas Kamath , Dr Satish Rao, director, Research, MAHE, Dr Basavaraj, HOD, Ayurveda Division MAHE, Dr Annapoorna, Head of Yoga division, MAHE and Dr Arul Amuthan, head of Siddha Division.
The Ministry of AYUSH will be deputing speciality Siddha doctors from National Institute of Siddha, Chennai to SISMO. Siddha doctors of MAHE and speciality doctors from Kasturba Medical College will be involved in the integrative medicine approach. At present, patients will be treated with Special Siddha treatment modalities such as naadi (pulse) diagnosis, cleansing therapy, diet therapy, home remedies, Siddha yoga therapy, Kaayakalpam (Anti-ageing therapy), varma therapy, external therapies, herbal therapies and Siddha higher order drugs. The SISMO OPD will be functioning all the days except Sundays and third Saturdays from morning 8.30 to 5.00 pm. Special focus is given to diabetes and its complications like foot ulcers, cancers, kidney stones, chronic skin diseases like psoriasis, liver diseases, sinusitis, infertility, back pain, and joint pain.
