Udupi, Jun 25: Adani Group’s Adani Power Limited (APL) – Udupi TPP, observed “Go-Red” drive, a volunteer blood donation drive, under the banner of Adani Foundation, at its power plant in Yellur villagein Udupi District and NMPA premises in Panambur, Mangaluru district on June 24.
The drive conducted to commemorate the birth anniversary of Adani Group’s Founder chairman Gautam Adani, was inaugurated by lighting a lamp by Dr Veena, medical officer, District Hospital, Udupi, Dr Palak from District Wenlock Hospital, Mangaluru, and Kishore Alva, president and executive director of Adani in presence of departmental Heads ohf APL.
Inaugurating the camp, Kishore Alva spoke and informed that Adani Group’s entities, under the aegis of Adani Foundation, a CSR wing of Adani Group, is organizing blood donation drive across all locations of Group’s entities every year and thousands of blood units are being collected and handed over to Blood Banks at respective locations. He expressed happiness that majority of the employees of APL, Udupi and its allied units are voluntarily participating in the drive every year and exhibiting a sign of social responsibility. He also informed that 25th June of every year will be celebrated as Adani Day.
Later Dr Veena explained the importance and need of the blood donation to the society. She applauded the efforts of Adani Foundation in organizing the blood donation camp in June month of every year for the last 5 years and donating the blood units to the District Hospitals of Mangaluru and Udupi.
The Go-Red Drive, which went on for whole day, witnessed collection of 457 units of blood. Kishore Alva thanked all the volunteers for joining hands in the noble cause.
