Woman accused of killing husband held with lover

Gurugram, Jun 27 (IANS): The Gurugram police have arrested a woman and her lover for allegedly murdering her husband in the Badshahpur area of the district, the police said.

Talking to the media on Tuesday, Varun Dahiya, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) (Crime), said that the deceased's wife Savita (39) and her lover Ashish aka Tinu (29) killed 52-year-old Madhusudan after slitting his throat with a sharp object.

The duo suspects have been arrested by a team from the Sector-39 Crime branch unit of the Gurugram police after the deceased's daughter had filed a murder case against an unknown person.

Based on the complaint, the police started the investigation.

"During the questioning, the accused revealed that they had planned to kill Madhusudan to continue their illicit relationship," Dahiya added.

Police said the accused woman works as a teacher in a private school and did not have a good relationship with her husband, who used to abuse her after drinking alcohol.

The woman had an illicit relationship with Ashish, who was also working as a teacher in the school.

Ashish had left the school in 2022, but the accused duo were in a relationship.

The woman wanted to get her lover Ashish married to her elder daughter so that both could live together easily, but the victim and her elder daughter were against this relationship, police added.

"As per the plan, on Monday, the woman called her lover Ashish and informed that her husband was alone at home, following which the accused reached the woman's house and hit the deceased with an iron rod and killed the victim by slitting his throat with a blade and after committing the murder, the duo fled the spot," the ACP said.

"The clothes worn by the accused Ashish at the time of the above incident have been recovered. The culprits are in police custody for a further probe," Dahiya added.
