Opposition unity due to fear of jail, says PM Modi

Bhopal, Jun 27 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday hit out at the Opposition saying that they are uniting only to escape jail.

He said that each leader who was part of the meeting in Patna is facing corruption charges.

Addressing a public rally at Motilal Nehru stadium in Bhopal, Modi said a new word has been created -- guarantee, and termed ‘guarantee’ as “corruption and scams.”

“Their (Opposition) guarantee is corruption and scams. Each leader present in the meeting has a ‘guarantee’ of scams of Rs. 20,000 crore and the Congress itself has the ‘guarantee’ of scams of several lakh crores. Some of them are out on bail and are sharing their jail experiences,” Modi said.

Responding to a query of a BJP worker on the Opposition meet, Modi said, “They are in fear that they may have to go to jail. This is the only reason that they are trying to mislead people ahead of the elections,” he said.

He said that if the Opposition has a ‘guarantee of corruption’, he has the ‘guarantee of sending all of them to jail.’

“Today, I am also giving one guarantee to the people of India. People who are involved in corruption will be sent to jail. Those who have cheated poor people and have minted huge sums of money for their personal benefit will face tough action from the investigating agencies,” Modi said.

In Bhopal, Modi for the first time spoke about the Opposition’s Patna meeting. He was on a four-day state visit to the US when the Opposition meeting took place on June 23.

Only human being ever born without any sin and most honest, perfect one. Rest are all sinners and criminals. .... If it is so why all the opposition parties members are not being sent to jail. Insecurity of own self chair is causing all this nonsense talk to fool the people. History has proved it time and again that power is not going to be permanent and day will come all this nautankis and arrogance will come to an end. It's only matter of time.

YOU are PM of India and must implement laws impartially, however you are showing your hatred policies on OPPOSITION LEADER'S!!! Your many economic policies have been failed miserably!!!

Fear of jail ? Then Scindia joined BJP out of similar fear ? Why did you ensure all cases against him were withdrawn ? Nevertheless, where do you leave opposition party members anyway ? There are IT/CBI raids against them even before the unity talks started. Please raid Adani Mr. Modiji, then people will believe in your honesty and neutrality.

You said the same in Karnataka and people of Karnataka kicked you out beating blue and black. Now soon in Karnataka your minister will be sent to your favourite Pararppana Agrahara as the inquiry of your minsters corruption, scams, irregularities, bitcoins and 40% commission has started. BTW, during your rule in MP how many opposition congress people were sent to jail?????…..You send opposition people to jail without any proven charges but by misusing the power by force on concocted charges using paid ED and CBI and later forcing them to sign charge sheet in jail scripted by you or threatening to harm thier family members if not signed.

By all means send the corrupt to jail. But please don't place the BJP corrupt persons on your lap and talk about eradicating corruption. That sounds hollow.
