Mangaluru, Jun 27: Suresh D Palli, a reporter from Hosa Diganta newspaper, and Bharathraj K Sanil, a reporter from Asia Net Suvarna News, have been chosen as the recipients of the Brand Mangaluru awards presented by the Dakshina Kannada district Karyaniratha Patrakartara Sangha. Suresh D Palli will be honored in the newspaper category, while Bharathraj will receive the award in the TV media category.

The selection was made based on Suresh D Palli's article titled 'Mathe Ondagali Odeda Manasugalu,' published in Hosa Digantha on June 13, 2022, and Bharathraj's report titled 'Hindu Kushalakarmia Kaichalaka Komu Sookshma Mangalurina Sauhardatheya Kathe,' broadcasted on Suvarna news on April 19, 2022.

The judging panel for the newspaper category included senior journalist Hailary Crasta, drama artiste and advocate Shashiraj Kavur, and the president of Karavali Lekhaki mathu Vachakiyara Sangha, Jyothi Chellar. For the TV media category, the judges were Prof Sunil Hegde from Ujire SDM College of Journalism and senior journalist Lancy D'Souza from Kudla Vahini.

The awards ceremony will take place on Journalism Day at Patrika Bhavan on July 1, with police commissioner Kuldeep Jain and retired Akashvani officer Sadananda Perla presenting the awards. The program will be presided over by Patrakartara Sangha President Srinivas Indaje. Also present will be Press Club President P B Harish Rai and Patrika Bhavana Trust president Ramakrishna R.

Suresh D Palli, a native of Karkala, holds a postgraduate degree in mass communication and journalism. He has been working as a news reporter for Hosa Diganta newspaper for the past 16 years.

Bharathraj, a resident of Kumpala, has 14 years of experience in journalism. He started his career at the age of 18 with Jayakirana newspaper, pursued a distance education program to obtain a BA in journalism, and has been working as a district reporter for Suvarna News since 2017.
