Just for the information of everyone! No fire alarm sounded, buildings should have a fire alarm, and there should be an automatic sprinkler system. Nothing of that got activated. (Find out who turned it off) It's an offence to turn that off. On the 21st floor, a party was going on, so figure out what would have caused the fire. (Hint it was the next day of some religious festival) This could have been the worst fire accident in the history of Mangalore, but by some miracle, the fire subsided in time, and people trapped on the top floors were able to come down. If the fire had gone out of control, there was no way anyone would have survived. Please note the seriousness. Just recall, when the twin towers hit on Sep 11th in New York, the people just got trapped on the top floors and couldn't do anything before collapsing into their horrific death. I hope the departments concerned take the necessary action so that such a situation will not come again. If you live in a high-rise apartment complex, please note the above.

OMG real scary. Thank God all residents are safe though what they will encounter due to the fire is left to see. Yes in Mangalore living in small houses is the best option yet there are far too many high-rise buildings here.

Better to stay in a small house instead of an apartment, fire, falling off from balcony, earthquake, water leakage, maintenance, lift etc.etc. Unlike Mumbai plenty of land available in Mangalore.

Monty Dotor, Mangalore Ask builders why they prefer vertical construction instead of horizontal construction. Seems you have a grudge for financial metropolis Bombay compared to coastal Mangalore .... either way - they are poles apart. Don't discriminate betwen the two .
