Mumbai, Jul 26: Ajay Devgn starrer Singham, a remake of Tamil blockbuster, directed by Rohit Shetty and produced by Reliance Entertainment has registered a superb earning during the first week-end.
It is reported that in the domestic market it has generated about 45 crores, whereas abroad it is not less that 5 crore.
The film pundits opine that this is a positive result for the movie, as, when it was released on July 22, it was analysed that the movie might collect about 30 crores in the first week-end. But the masala movie has risen much above expectations.
The controversy over the dialogue against Kannadigas has not had much impact even in Karnataka as the movie has been running successfully in single screens. But there has been a setback to the movie in multiplexes, it is learnt.
Nationwide, the movie is running housefull in single screens, the distributors say.
Satisfied with the initial response, Reliance Entertainment CEO Sanjeev Lamba says the response has been tremendous during the weekend, and it is expected to attract better response the second week too.
Internationally, the movie was released in 28 countries on July 22, and it will be released in another at least 25 countries on July 29, it is learnt.
