Pakistan to Set up Disaster Response Force


Islamabad, Jul 27 (IANS): Pakistan has decided to constitute an inter-provincial response force that will handle emergencies and disasters.

The decision to set up the force was taken at a meeting chaired by Interior Minister Rehman Malik here Tuesday. The meeting reviewed law and order situation in the country.

Associated Press of Pakistan reported that a special provincial force would be raised by all the provinces to guard dignitaries, diplomats and delegates from abroad. This will release the police force and law enforcement personnel who will then be available for their regular duties.

The meeting proposed legislation for de-weaponisation of the whole country.
