Mangaluru: Job fair at Padua College receives cheering response

Mangaluru, Jul 8: Padua College of Commerce and Management Nanthur, in association with Placement Cell, Internal Quality Assurance Cell QAC, department of commerce & management and well known NGO - United Nations Development Programme UNDP organised a mega job fair on Saturday, July 8 at Padua College Campus Nanthur.

This is the 8th consecutive year Padua College is arranging such job fair for the benifit of Mangaluru youth, which is open for all.

A total of 31 prestigious companies from Mangaluru and Bengaluru participated in the job fair.

In spite of heavy rains in the city, more than 400 candidates participated in the job fair, out of which 271 candidates were shortlisted and 65 candidates got the job offers on the spot.

Fr Vincent Monteiro, the correspondent presided over the inaugural function. The chief guest of the programme Roshan Castelino, senior HR manager of MRPL ignited the confidence of the job seekers with guiding them to choose the most suitable job among the available opportunities rather than sitting idle at home, and waiting for the kind of job they feel to be the best and desirable.

The principal of the college Fr Arun Wilson Lobo welcomed the gathering. Prof Roshan Santhumayor the vice principal proposed the vote of thanks. Prof Prashanth Kevin D'Costa the placement officer, Shivkumar and Lydia Gonsalves - UNDP coordinators, Jesfrida Menezes - IQAC coordinator were present. Prof Flavita Lewis compered the programme.

The placement cell of Padua College has appealed all its old students and other HR professionals working in different organisations around the globe to approach Padua College Placement Cell for selection of right candidates from Mangaluru. The placement cell is maintaining the data base of large number of job seekers with variety of qualifications and professional experience.
