Mangaluru, Jul 10: Police continued the investigation into the murder that took place Mulihitlu junction under the south police station limits of the city. It has come to light that the owner Tausif Hussain had hit the employee Gajwan alias Jaggu on the head with wooden log and later poured petrol on his body and burnt him.
Gajwan was working in Tausif’s shop for the past three years. He used to sleep in a shed adjacent to the shop. Tausif used to beat Gajwan often. On Saturday also he attacked Gajwan with wooden log. As Gajwan lost consciousness, accused Tausif shifted his body to the nearby shed and poured petrol on him and burnt him.
Later, accused Tausif took Gajwan to Wenlock hospital and said that Gajwan was burnt due to electric shock. The hospital authorities informed the police. On interrogation Tausif confessed to the crime. Major part of the mortal remains of Gajwan was badly burnt. Only post mortem report will throw more light on the cause of death. Police also conducted spot inspection on Sunday.
The mystery is that no one knows the whereabouts of Gajwan including the accused Tausif in whose shop he worked for three years. Gajwan could not speak properly. He had said with the accused that he is from Rajasthan. Locals used to address him as Gajwan alias Jaggu. So even his real name is not known. Police are trying to locate his address and next of kin.
